Early Life[]
Kyra is the youngest daughter of NASCAR Sprint Cup crew chief Mike Ford. She instantly loved NASCAR as soon as she watched a race on TV with her mother Robin when Kyra was just a year old.
Racing/Crew Chief Career[]
The first time that Kyra had participated in a race physically was on October 15, 2011 when she was participating in the 'Better Half Dash' charity race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Kyra finished second in the event.
When the 2011 Sprint Cup season started, she ended being the co-crew chief for Denny's Sprint Cup team (sharing the position with Kyra's father Mike)
After it was announced that Mike Ford had been released as a crew chief for Denny Hamlin, Kyra was also announced to be his replacement for the 2012 season along with Darian Grubb, who was the former crew chief for the 2011 Sprint Cup Champion Tony Stewart.
Personal Life[]
Kyra is the youngest daughter of NASCAR Sprint Cup crew chief Mike Ford, and the youngest out of two siblings: Alec and Austin Ford.
Kyra met Denny when Denny was just in his rookie year in the Sprint Cup series in 2006 at Pocono Raceway, where she ended up in Victory Lane as Denny had won that race. Over the course of the summer, Denny and Kyra hung out whenever they could, developing a friendship between the two, and they were able to see each other during the summer and at the Charlotte races (All-Star Race, Coca-Cola 600, Bank of America 500) becuase of Kyra still in school.
It wasn't till the end of the 2010, more specifically at the award ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada where during his 2nd place speech where he'd asked her out. Kyra ended up saying yes. After that, she was able to go on the road with him full time (since she graduated from highschool in 2010).
During the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship Award Ceremony, Denny and Kyra had gotten engaged and are planning to have their wedding on November 17, 2012
